Backup and security: how to never lose your company's data

Your company's data — customers, orders, invoices — is worth more than any computer. And yet many businesses have no plan for the day everything disappears. Here's how to avoid the nightmare.
What can go wrong
- The server goes down or a hard drive fails.
- A cyber attack locks or deletes your data.
- A human error deletes something important.
- An account is compromised because of a weak password.
Backup: your safety net
A backup is a copy of your data, made automatically and regularly, and kept in a separate location. The simple rule: if your data is in only one place, you don't really have it. A good backup lets you get back to normal in a few minutes, not a few days.
Basic security you can actually put in place
- Strong, unique passwords, ideally with two-step authentication.
- HTTPS across the whole website, so data travels encrypted.
- Regular updates, to close known vulnerabilities.
- Limited access: each person sees only what they need.
Why building it properly matters
Many security problems come from third-party plugins and templates full of holes. Clean code written from scratch, with security rules applied from the start, dramatically reduces the risk.
At AI Soft we set up automatic backups, encrypted connections and controlled access for the systems we build — and we can also secure an existing application. If you're not sure how well protected you are, write to us below.
