A security guide for your company website: 7 things that really matter

You do not need to be security specialists to have a secure website. The vast majority of incidents start from the same few gaps, and the list below covers the ones that really matter.
1. Up-to-date software
The critical vulnerabilities of 2026 — PHP2Shell in October, wp2shell in WordPress in the summer — all had the same fix: the update, applied in time. The server and website software must be kept up to date at all times. The key question: who takes care of this for your website?
2. HTTPS everywhere
A valid certificate, renewed automatically, with a mandatory redirect from http to https, including on subdomains. Without HTTPS, form data travels unencrypted, and browsers and Google penalise the website.
3. Strong passwords and two-step verification
Use a password manager and turn on two-step verification at least for email, the hosting account and the website’s administration. Email is the key to everything else: whoever gets into your email can reset almost any of your passwords.
4. Backups
Regular, also kept somewhere other than the website’s server, and tested from time to time with a real restore. An untested backup is only a hope.
5. Protected forms
Every public form needs data validation, anti-spam protection and a limit on login attempts. Otherwise it becomes a gateway for bots.
6. Minimal access
Each person on the team gets access only to what they need, on their own account, not a shared one. And former collaborators’ accounts are disabled on the day they leave, not “when we remember”.
7. Logs and monitoring
An incident discovered on the first day is an inconvenience; one discovered after six months is a disaster. The server must keep logs, and someone must look at them.
What AI Soft hosting covers
